Theorems, Proofs, Rebuttals and Propositions: A Conference of Theoretical Theater

September 6th-13th, 2013

Program overview

The conference begins with four plenary performances, each followed by a moderated discussion. The four plenary performances become the initial propositions of the conference, and conference participants respond to one or more of these propositions through some combination of written, spoken, or performed works. Response presentations will be held on Thursday and Friday, September 12 and 13.

Saturday September 7

5:30pm-7pm at GH front gallery: Reality Research Center, ongoing gallery-style screening of video documentation from Act IV of PLATO’S SYMPOSIUM

7pm at GH garden: Reality Research Center, PLATO’S SYMPOSIUM (Act IV) (note: only people who have attended Acts I, II, and III may attend Act IV)

 

Sunday September 8

1—4pm at CH: Mike Taylor, IDEA MACHINE Pt.1 (note: this is a workshop requiring participation. You may choose to skip the workshop and only attend the performance at 6pm.)

4:30-5:30pm at GH: Moderated Discussion with Reality Research Center and Yelena Gluzman

6—7pm at CH: Mike Taylor, IDEA MACHINE Pt. 2

7:30 at CH: General wrap-up discussion and casual drinks

 

Thursday September 12

7—10pm at GP: Conference Participant response presentations

(note: the schedule for response presentations will be decided at the General wrap-up discussion on Sunday Sept.8)

 

Friday September 13

7—10pm at GP: Conference Participant response presentations

10pm at GP: Closing party

 

Conference participants and response formats

Invited Participants may present responses in a variety of formats, including written texts, academic papers, dialogues, performances, or some combination of these. Rehearsal space is provided by the Panoply Performance Laboratory in the intervening week.

A schedule for all response presentations will be made collectively during the wrap-up discussion on September 8 and live responses will be presented 7-11pm on Thursday, September 12 and Friday, September 13.
